  • What are the 10 stages in the writing process?

  • Preparation, During this stage, you have to establish your purpose first.
  • Persona, This will set the tone, language, and level of formality in your paper.
  • Readers Interest, You have to be informed of the character, interest, background, and preferences of your target readers.
  • You need to think of the topic you are writing and the type of output that you will produce. (Brochure, Magazine, News Paper and School Journal)
  • This is Purpose, " Why do I want to inform, entertain, or persuade the audience about my topic?”
  • Modelling is the process by which you, the writer, look at different works which are similar in nature with the paper you are about to write.
  • Modelling, Analyze the features such as the organization, structure, and language use of the sample texts to determine how they achieved their purpose.
  • Generating Ideas , brainstorming, it is to come up with ideas, you can do any of these prewriting activities: brainstorming, clustering, or freewriting.
  • Focus on a Topic is general to specifics (narrowing down). Think of a question related to your specific purpose and answer it with at least two details (leading to your initial thesis statement)
  • Organizing Ideas, preparing an outline, begin by answering the question that leads to your thesis statement. Two or three main ideas can be generated using this technique. Use main ideas as your main heading, sub topics for each main ideas then supporting details for each of the sub topics.
  • Drafting, After outlined your ideas, it is time to write your first draft.  Athis stage you need to focus on the content and organization not on the grammar and mechanics
  • Feedback is a response to the written work which focuses on all aspects of writing.
  • Revision, the act of improving the original paper by applying changes based on the feedback. You also need to apply critical thinking and evaluation skills when considering the comments on your paper.
  • The finishing stages of writing are editing and proofreading.
  • During this stage, you need to use standardized editing symbols to note the corrections.
  • Editing - focuses on grammar and languange use.
    Proofreading - focuses on mechanics and typography.
  • Publishing,  After exerting effort in writing a good paper, you can showcase your work to other people.
