  • Cinema
    • The most popular of the arts forms; yet, it is the youngest of all
    • Appeared only in the early 1900s in Manila and later spread in the regions
    • Has gained public acceptance since then
    • Characteristics are similar to theater, except that it is not a live performance and the action is seen on a flat screen
  • In the past, cultural events in the regions were limited inside the regions. But now, because of the efforts and support of the Cultural Center of the Philippines (CCP) and the National Commission on Culture and the Arts (NCCA), there are now cultural and artistic centers in the various regions of the country.
  • Cultural Center of the Philippines (CCP)

    • Established in 1969 through Executive Order No. 303 to "preserve, develop, and promote arts and culture in the Philippines"
    • Houses several resident companies
    • Provides a venue for concerts, theatrical performances, and art exhibits here and abroad
    • Embarked on an outreach program called "Ugnayan sa Sining" to promote regional arts through cultural interactions and exchange tours
    • Launched "Kaisa sa Sining: The Regional Arts Centers" in 2014 to further strengthen its linkages and cooperation with local organizations in the regions
    • In charge of the National Art Center in Mt. Makiling, Los Baños, Laguna, which is the home of the Philippine High School for the Arts
  • National Comission for culture at the arts (NCCA)

    • Responsible for "preserving, promoting, and developing culture and the arts in the Philippines"
    • Serving as the main organizational body for art development, the overall policy-making body and coordinator among cultural agencies, including CCP
    • NCCA-SCA, with the help of 19 national committees, facilitates most art-related events and projects in the country

  • NCCA spearheaded a conference of several Asian countries in Bohol called Likha Asya which aimed to be the first Asian Festival, conference, and fair on community theater, creative industries, and community-based tourism for sustainable livelihoods.
  • In 2013, NCCA sponsored Tanghal Theater Festival featuring regional theater organizations and university drama groups with the theme "Ani ng Sining".
  • NCCA provides support to community-based theater groups, together with government agencies and private sponsors, because they know that these groups can make a difference by featuring the marginalized segments of society and focusing on issues like poverty, injustice, and women's issues.
