    To investigate how important are fathers in children's development and do they have distinct role.

    It was a longitudinal study (44 families). He looked at both parents' behaviour and its relationship to the quality of children's attachment experience (at 6, 10& 16 years old).

    Quality of infant attachment with mothers is related to attachment style in adolescence. However, quality of fathers play with infants was related to quality of adolescent attachments.

    Parents play a different role in parenting (play and stimulation or nurturing) but both are equally as important in forming future attachments.
