Identify the states of matter in the beakers above:
Beaker 1 - Solid
Beaker 2 - Liquid
Beaker 3 - Gas
Draw a diagram showing how to change the state between ice, water and water vapour.

PROPERTIES OF MATTER
Volume - The amount of space an objectoccupies
PROPERTIES OF MATTER
Density - How close particles are to each other
PROPERTIES OF MATTER
Melting point - the temperature when a solid turn into a liquid
PROPERTIES OF MATTER
Boiling Point - The temperature when the liquid starts turning into gas
PROPERTIES OF MATTER
Diffusion - Movement of particles from a region of high concentration to a region of lower concentration
PROPERTIES OF MATTER
Kinetic Energy - Moving energy for the particles
How does the kinetic energy, forces of attraction, and space between particles change as you go from a gas to a liquid?
The kineticenergy of the particles decreases, the forces of attraction between the particles increase and the space between the particles decreases.
the difference between thermal expansion and thermal contraction?
Thermal expansion is when an object expands when the temperature increases.
Thermal contraction is when an object shrinks when the temperature decreases.
tūpuna meaning?
An ancestor, or a grandparent.
What are toki?
Toki is a chisel-type tool used among the maori to carve their great canoes and hui houses, it is worn by maori elders as a symbol of courage, power, and authority.
HOW IS TOKI CREATED?
When the rock is heated with fire, particles of the rock begin to vibrate as there is more kinetic energy, causing it to spread out more. When the rock is being cooled at a fast pace, this makes the kinetic energy less, and having the particles vibrate less. Closing up the space between them, so the rock contracts.
The outer part of the rock cools down before the inner part of the rock, causing the rock to shatter. The shattered pieces can be used to craft toki.
