  • Products
Individual components of a holiday that a tourist experiences - accommodation, transport, restaurants, and activities such as guided tours, adventure sports, visiting natural and cultural heritage attractions, and any other activity designed for tourists. In addition, the term can be used to refer to a complete package.
  • Tourism Product
A combination of tangible and intangible elements, such as natural, cultural and man-made resources, attractions, facilities, services and activities around a specific center of interest which represents the core of the destination marketing mix and creates an overall visitor experience including emotional aspects for the potential customers. A tourism product is priced and sold through distribution channels and it has a life-cycle.
  • Package
Products can be packaged as one final product. Example: multi-day packages between 2 and 7 nights for groups of up to 12 people.
  • Itinerary
The schedule of the full package with timings, locations, and activities. Tourists will look at the itinerary for guidance before making their purchasing decision and will want to know what they can expect from the whole experience.
  • Product Development
The creation of attractions or services to be used or purchased by visitors, including packages. To some, this 'product' includes creation of tangible information like brochures and travel guides.
  • All tourists buy, either separately, or as an inclusive tour, the various components of the tourist product. Either way, the end result of all these purchases is a 'package.'
  • Product development is adding or repackaging existing products to create a new experience.
  • Consideration must be given to the pacing when developing a tourism product.
