PhilippineFestivals– Fiesta is a big part of Filipino culture. A fiesta goes on in both good and bad times. Each city and barrio have at least one local festival which is the feast of its patron saint so there is always a fiesta going on somewhere in the country.
Ati-Atihan - It is a festival from Kalibo, Aklan falls on the third week of January. The celebrants paint their faces in different ways and dress in the most exceptional costumes
Kadayawan Festivals It is a festival held in the city of Davao which is celebrated during the third week of August. “Kadayawan” in Mandaya dialect means anything that brings fortune, a celebration of life, a thanksgiving for the gift of nature.
Moriones - is a folk religious event held annually during Holy Week in Marinduque. The word morion refers to the visor of the helmet that is associated with the armor of Roman soldiers.
Sinulog Festival - It is one of the grandest, most distinguished and most colorful festivals in the Philippines. The major festival is held each year on the third Sunday of January in Cebu City, to honor the Santo Nino or the child of Jesus.
Ibalong Festival A festival that is celebrated in the City of Legaspi in Albay during the second week of October. And recalls the region’s early beginnings.
Sublian Festival -It is a festival with a two-week long celebration which culminates on the 23rd of July. It is rooted in the Batanguenos devotion to the town's patron: the Holy Cross in Banuan and Agoncillo, and the Sto. Nino in Batangas City
Plain Waltz – step pattern is step, close step count pattern is 1, 2, 3 to a step
Hop – a jump using one foot
Skip – similar to a hop but takes a double count per step
Jump a lift of a body using two feet
Kuradang – a double step forward, across, and a double step backward. It is like a double sway balance with a point.
Kumintang – an inward and outward movement that is done by the wrist raised upward.
Tinikling dance is a favorite in the Visayan Islands especially in the province of Leyte. Tinikling came from the word “Tikling”, a bird with long legs and neck.
Girls wear balintawak or patadyong. Boys wear barong tagalog and long red trousers with one leg rolled up. They both dance barefoot.
