  • Governance
    The act or process of governing or overseeing the control and direction of something (such as a country or an organization)
  • Good Governance
    Good governance relates to the political and institutional processes and outcomes that are necessary to achieve the goals of development. The true test of 'good' governance is the degree to which it delivers on the promise of human rights: civil, cultural, economic, political and social rights.
  • Election
    A periodical process by which people vote for new leaders and usher in a new government administration

  • Corruption
    The moral degradation which is the result of graft. It is the act of doing something which is morally incorrect or the process of being evil or wicked.
  • transparency refers to holding public officials accountable for their operations. This means sharing information and acting plainly. Free access to information is a key element in promoting this.
  • Another key attribute for good governance is responsibility. A good governance should know what their duty is to people and their state.
  • Accountability includes the existence of mechanisms where there is certainty that public officials and political leaders are responsible for their actions, responsible for the use of public resources and transparency of government and media freedom.
  • Citizen participation is a key element of a good governance system. It provides private individuals and groups the opportunity to inform, influence, monitor and evaluate public decisions, processes, and actions.
  • Responsiveness - Good governance needs institutions and processes to attempt to serve all stakeholders within a reasonable time.
