Cards (12)

  • Parts of a Circuit
    Source, conductor, load, and control.
  • Source
Where the electrical energy comes from.
  • Conductor
    Carries the current.
  • Load
Converts electricity into other forms of energy.
  • Control

    Device that opens/closes the circuit.
  • Ohm's Law

    Measure of resistance (in Ω).
  • Formula for Ohm's Law
    R=V/I
    -------------------
    R means OHMS
    V means VOLTS
    I means AMPS/AMPERES
  • Voltmeter
It is PARALLEL in the circuit (EXTENTION). If it is taken out of the circuit, it STILL WORKS. Measures the VOLTS of the SOURCE.
  • AMETER
Is SERIES in the circuit (WITHIN the circuit). If it is taken out of the circuit, it STOPS WORKING. Measures AMPS of the CURRENT.
  • Increasing the LENGTH of the CONDUCTOR?

INCREASES the resistance because it takes LONGER for the electrons to get from the source to the load.
  • INCREASING the DIAMETER of the Conductor?

DECREASES resistance because it allows for MORE electrons to travel to the source at a single time.
  • How do you CHANGE Voltage?
Increase or decrease the VOLTAGE or AMOUNT of batteries that contribute electricity to the source.
