  • Functional V Dysfunctional perfectionism (Sager and Steober 2009) -Functional = positive, performers set high personal standards. Dysfunctional = negative, performers are concerned about the mistakes they, have self-doubt.
  • Dweck's theory of mindset = perception based, where the athlete will have a view of the importance of their skill level in relation to their performance. Fixed = views that your skill is a limiting factor = inhibited performance. Growth = view practice as an unlimiting factor - enhance performance.
  • Perfectionism - exhibited by performers who search for the perfect performance, rather than just success.
  • Richardson (2002) defined resilience as: a personality trait and force within a person, that allows them to overcome adversity.
