  • The rebellion of Francisco Dagohoy- This is the longest for it lasted from 1744-1829.
  • The rebellion of Diego Silang. This was a famous revolt in
    Ilocos in 1762-1763 which happened during British Invasion.
  • First Pampanga Revolt started in 1585 was plotted by
    some brave Pampangueno.
  • One of the earliest revolts against the tribute started in Cagayan and Iloos in 1589.
  • Forced labor. This revolt was lea by Sumuroy who a native of Samar .
  • The agragrian revolt happened between 1745-1746.
  • Flipino land owners in the four provinces of Batangas, Bulacan, Cavite and Laguna revolted against the Spanish rule due to the land grabbing by spaniards who took over their anestral lands.
  • The Basi revolt was the most unusual revolt in Philippine History. It was all about the love for a homemade wine from sugar cane caled basi.
  • In 1786, the Spanish government took over the making and sale of wine. On Serptember 16, 1807,the Ilocanos from Ilocos Norte rose in armed revolt.
  • This revolt against religion was led by Apolinario dela Cruz popularly known as "Hermano Pule" of Lukban, Tayabas.
  • The er \arly revolts by the Filinos agsinst the Spanish rule because of two reasons:
    1. The Fiipinos were not united
    2. There were no national leaders who can unite people for a common cause.
  • CAUSES fo Nationalism:
    .1 New ideas from abroad about the fredom and the rights of men
    2. Opening of the suez canal
    3. Race prejudice against Filipinos
    .4 The Spanish Revolution of 1868
    5. Martyrdom of Gom-Bur-Za
  • After the unjust execution of the 3 priests, GOMBURZA, Propaganda Movement was founded by the Filipino expatriates in Madrid in 1872.
  • Propaganda Movement - was a peaceful crusade for reforms which ended ni 1892 after the exile of Rizal to Dapitan. The propagandists were young Filipinos ni their twenties or thirties.
  • They published LA Solidaridad as the newspaper of the Propaganda Movement which was founded by Graciano Lopez Jaena in 1889 as the first editor of the LA Solidaridad.
  • This organ ended ni 1595 with the last fighting editor, Marcelo H. del Pilar.
  • When Rizal decided to return home to Philippines ni 1892, he founded LA Liga Filipina on July 3, 1892.
  • On July 7, 1892, Andres Bonifacio founded Katipunan or KKK.
  • The first president of Katipunan was Deodato Arellano but in 1895, Bonifacio replaced him.
  • After Katipunan was discovered, katipuneros fled to the hills of Balintawak.
  • This revolution began in 1896 and really ended in 1901. At first, it was an uprising of the tagalog masses under the leadership of Andres Bonifacio, however, it became the first national arned fighting for filipinos' independence.
  • CAUSES of the Philippine Revolution:
    .1 The abuses of Spanish officials
    2. Presecution of filipino leaders
    3. Filipinos's desire to regain their independence
    4. Discovery of the Katipunan and Bonifacio's call for revolution
  • August 30, 1896 was the first battle of the revolution and this spread like a wild fire in Southern Luzon.
  • The first eight provinces that took arms against Spain were the following:
    Manila
    Bulacan
    Pampanga
    Nueva Ecijs
    Tarlac
    Laguna
    Cavite
    Batangas
  • Emilio Aguinaldo, a college dropout joined the katipunan to fight the Spaniards. His name in the katipunan was Magdalo.
  • During the revolution, Aguinaldo and Cavite freedom fighters won one battle after another. So Aguinaldo's star began to rise and became more popular than Bonifacio which caused rivalry between the two.
  • Katipuneros decided to meet on March 22, 1897 to elect for a leader and Aguinaldo was elected President by the Tejeros assembly
  • Bonifacio could not accept the result of the election and declared it null and void.
  • together with his brother Procopio and were tried by the military court of the Revolutionary Government of Emilio Aguinaldo.
  • They were sentenced to die because of sedition and so on May 10, 1897, Andres and Procopio were shot by a squad of Aguinaldo's soldier under the command of Major Lazaro Makapagal.
  • Pact of Biaknabato. It's a truce/an agreement to end the revolution mediated by Dr. Pedro Paterno who asked as the go-between in the peace negotiation.
  • But there was no peace after Pack of Biaknabato was both signed by Governor-General Primo de Rivera and Emilio Aguinaldo on Dec. 14 and 15, 1897.
  • First battle otfhe revolution was on August 30, 1896 when the Katipuneros attacked the Spanish Arsenal at San Juan del Monte but lost the battle.
  • Dr. Jose Rizal was shot by a firing squad at Luneta on December 30, 1896
  • Two groups competed for leadership: Magdiwangs and the Magdalos
  • The Magdiwangs supported Bonifacio as leader because he started the revolution
  • The Magdalos supported Aguinaldo as leader because he won his battles while Bonifacio olst lla his battles
  • Election was held at Tejeros, Cavite on March 22, 1897 where Emoili Aguinaldo won inthe said election.
  • At the battle of Limbon, Bonifacio and his men lost the fight and were taken as prisoner. They were tried by the military court martial of the Revolutionary government on May 5, 1897.
  • On May 10, 1897, the Bonifacio Brothers were shot by a squad under the command of Major Lazaro Macapagal at Mt. Buntis near Maragondon.
