  • Collage
The technique of an art production primarily used in the visual arts, where the artwork is made from an assemblage of different forms, thus creating a new whole
  • Collage
    • May sometimes include magazines and newspaper clippings, ribbons, paints, bits or handmade colored papers, portions of other artwork or text, photographs, and other found objects, glued to a piece of paper or canvas
  • Décollage
The opposite of collage, a French word which means "will take off" or to become "unglued" or to become "unstuck" some parts of existing images
  • Décollage
    • Cut-up technique
    • Lacerated poster (a poster in which one has been placed over another or others, and the top poster or posters have been ripped, revealing to a greater or lesser degree the poster or posters underneath)
  • Graffiti
A form of visual communication, usually illegal, involving the unauthorized marking of public space by an individual or group
  • Graffiti
    • The common image of graffiti is a stylistic symbol or phrase spray-painted on a wall by a member of a street gang, some graffiti is not gang-related
    • It is an antisocial behavior performed in order to gain attention or as a form of thrill seeking, but it also can be understood as an expressive art form
  • Land art
Art made use from natural materials: Stones, water, gravel, fallen tree branches, leaves, feathers, shells, and soil are the most commonly used materials, but more unusual items like animal bones or skulls, fur, ice or snow or animal tracks might also be used
  • Digital art
Art done through painting that uses brushes much like traditional painting techniques such as watercolor, oils, impasto, etc. are applied using digital tools by means of a computer, a graphics tablet and stylus, and software like painting on a table or creating artwork digitally on a computer
  • Digital art
    • Using cameras, containing arrays of electronic photo detectors to capture images focused by a lens, as opposed to an exposure on photographic film
    • The process of using electronic and computing appliances to capture, create, edit and share
  • Fractals
Specialized hand-held glass prisms that add artistic flare to your images and video
  • Fractal Filters
Supplementary tools designed to provide photographers (and videographers) with new techniques that can be used to shoot anytime, anywhere
  • Woodcut
The oldest form of printmaking, a relief process in which knives and other tools are used to carve a design into the surface of a wooden block. The raised areas that remain after the block has been cut are inked and printed, while the recessed areas that are cut away do not retain ink, and will remain blank in the final print
  • Engraving
An intaglio printmaking process in which lines are cut into a metal plate in order to hold the ink. The metal plate is first polished to remove all scratches and imperfections from the surface so that only the intentional lines will be printed
  • Etching
An intaglio printmaking process in which lines or areas are incised using acid into a metal plate in order to hold the ink. To prepare the plate for etching, it is first polished to remove all scratches and imperfections from the surface. When the surface is completely smooth, it is covered evenly with a layer of acid-resistant varnish or wax, which is called the ground
  • Lithography
A Planographic printmaking process in which a design is drawn onto a flat stone (or prepared metal plate, usually zinc or aluminum) and affixed by means of a chemical reaction. First, the design for the lithograph is drawn directly onto a polished slab of limestone using an oil-based lithographic crayon or ink
  • Screen printing
A process where ink is forced through a mesh screen onto a surface. Making certain areas of the screen impervious to printing ink creates a stencil, which blocks the printing ink from passing through the screen. The ink that passes through forms the printed image
  • Mixed media
An artwork in which more than one medium or material has been employed. Assemblages and collages are two common examples of art using different media that will make use of different materials including cloth, paper, wood and found objects
