RAM stands out as the primary memory choice for its accessibility and performance
ZipDrive (Removable Hard Disk)
Removable Disk Cartridges, faster access time compared to diskettes but slower than traditional hard disks, allows for the removal and replacement of hard disk cartridges for data transfer
DVD-ROM Increased Data Storage
Pits and lands are much closer than in a CD-ROM
Spiral track is much closer, contributing to increased data storage capacity
Numeric keypad layout designed to offer familiarity to individuals accustomed to calculators and adding machines
Function Keys
Positioned in a line across the top of the keyboard
Assignable to specific commands by the current application or operating system
Keyboard Processor Function
Each keyboard is equipped with a small processor
Processor monitors the key matrix for continuity, detecting closed circuits
Mouse
Primary objective is to translate hand motion into signals for cursor movement
Movable Type
A drum, chain or wheel of type is moved so that each character can appear over the print position. At the appropriate time, a hammer strikes the paper against the type, and an ink ribbon prints the required symbol.
Dot Matrix
The symbols are built up as they are printed from patterns of dots. The printing itself may be done mechanically with an ink ribbon, by charging the paper electrostatically for later development, or by propelling ink droplets under the control of electrostatic fields.
