Zoom Slider
Name box
Displays the currently selected sell
Formula bar
Displays the number, text, or formula that is in the currently selected cell, and allows you to edit it. It behaves just like a text box

Column
Columns run vertically (top to bottom)
Column label
Identifies each column with a letter. Clicking on a column label selects the entire column
ROW
Rows run horizontally (left to right)
ROW label
Identifies each row with a number. Clicking on a row label selects the entire row
CELL
The intersection of a row and column
WORKSHEET
The worksheets contained in the workbook are displayed at the bottom-left of the screen. Click on a worksheet to view it
SCROLL BARS
Used to view other parts of a worksheet when the entire worksheet cannot fit on the screen
Status
bar
The status bar is located below the document window area
Zoom
slider
Allows you to adjust how large the spreadsheet is displayed on the screen
Excel Spreadsheet
- contains one or more worksheets
An excel workbook can hold a maximum of
1,048,576 rows
and
16,384 columns.
A row goes
left to right.
A column goes
up to down.
Formula Bar
- displays the number, text, or formula that is in the currently selected cell
Worksheet
- displayed at the bottom-left of the screen.
Scroll bar
- used to view other parts of a worksheet when the entire worksheet cannot fit on the screen
Status bar
- located below the document window area
Normal view
- simply displays the grid of cells that make up your sheet
Page layout
- shows what your sheet will look like when printed
Page break preview
- allows you to add page breaks to your sheet
Standard cursor
- default cursor shape and it appears when you are pointing at buttons on the ribbon
I-Beam
- appears when you are pointing to editable text
Move cursor
- clicking and dragging will move whatever object you are pointing to
Box Cross
- appears when you point to a cell
Fill handle
- appears when you point to the black square in the bottom-right corner of a cell
Select column
- appears when you point to a column header
Select row
- appears when you point to a row header
Resize column
- appears when you point to the divider line between 2 columns
Resize row
- appears when you point to the divider line between 2 row headers
File tab
- contains basic file management commands
Quick access tool bar
- contains common commands
Title bar
- displays the name of the workbook you are working on
Close button
- exits the excel program entirely
Ribbon
- tabs and groups replace the menus and toolbars found in previous versions of excel
