• when transpiration happens, water vapour is lost from stomata -> more water is taken into plants from roots
• method:

  1. set up apparatus under water so no air bubbles (control)
  2. apply Vaseline to joints to prevent air entering (control)
  3. dab leaves to remove water (control)
  4. remove capillary tube from water to allow air bubbles to form
  5. record distance bubbles travel in set time
  6. repeat 2 times and take a mean (control)-> can be used to calculate rate of transpiration
