  adenosine triphosphate. Releases energy through the final phosphate being hydrolysed. It is an energy storing molecule.

  
  

  Hydrolysis of ATP to ADP and Pi is catalysed by the enzyme ATPase.

  
  

  ATP can only be used in the cel it is made in

  
  
• coenzymes

  - FAD (respiration) - only present in Krebs cycle, accepts 2 hydrogen atoms to become FADH2

  
  

  - NAD (respiration) - present in all stags of respiration, and accepts 2 hydrogen atoms to become NADH

  
  

  - NADP (photosynthesis) - accepts electrons (hydrogen atoms?) to become NADPH
