• Binary oppositions theory - the idea that media texts are made up of binary opposites, such as good vs evil, male vs female, black vs white.
• Why are binary opposites used - It creates conflict, drama and makes things more entertaining
• How do we know if something is a binary opposition - it has two opposite elements which can be compared to one another
