AN ACT ESTABLISHING A COMPREHENSIVE FIRE CODE OF THE PHILIPPINES, REPEALING PRESIDENTIAL DECREE NO. 1185 AND FOR OTHER PURPOSES

This Act shall be known as the “Fire Code of the Philippines of 2008”.

The head of the city fire station or the municipal fire station
FIRE MARSHALL
Class of fires involving ordinary combustible materials such as wood, cloth, rubber, and plastics
CLASS A FIRE
Class of fires involving flammable liquids and gases
CLASS B FIRES
Class of fires involving energized electrical equipment
CLASS C FIRES
Class of fires involving combustible materials such as sodium, magnesium, potassium, and other similar materials (Table of Elements)
CLASS D FIRES
Class of fires involving cooking appliances and cooking media such as cooking oils, vegetable oils, etc.
CLASS K FIRE
A system of vertical pipes in a building to which fire hoses can be attached on each floor
STAND PIPE SYSTEM
A type of standpipe system in which the pipes are normally not filled with water
DRY STAND PIPE
A pipeline filled with water and connected to a constant water supply for the use of the BFP and the occupants of the buildings solely for fire suppression purposes.
WET/COMBINATION STANDPIPE
Any visual or audible signal produced by a device or system to warn the occupants of the building or fire fighting elements of the presence or danger of fire
FIRE ALARM
Refers to any condition or arch that increases or may cause an increase in the , of the occurrence of fire, or which may obstruct, delay, hinder or interfere
FIRE HAZARD
The time duration that a material or construction can withstand the effet of a standard fire test
FIRE RESISTIVE RATING
A wall designed to prevent the spread of fire, having a fire-resistance rating of not less than four hours with sufficient structural stability
FIRE WALL
An integrated network of hydraulically designed piping systems installed in a building
SPRINKLER SYSTEM
Inspects of buildings to assess/ ensure compliance with the other fire code and its fire safety requirements, ordinances, and law
FIRE SAFETY INSPECTORS
-reviews reports of fire safety enforcers, assists the fire marshall in fire code implementation, supervises the fire safety inspectors
CHIEF OF FIRE SAFETY ENFORCEMENT SECTION/UNIT
Fire safety inspection is required for
-CERTIFICATE OF OCCUPANCY, BUSINESS PERMIT AND PERMIT TO OPERATE
Contents of such Low combustibility that no self-propagating fire can occur in the building
LOW HAZARD
Contents which are liable to burn with moderate rapidity or to give off considerable volume of smoke
MODERATE HAZARDS
Contents that are liable to burn with extreme rapidity/Contents from which poisonous gases or explosions are to be expected in the event of a fire
HIGH HAZARD
Number of exits for 0-500 occupant load
