• osmosis: the movement of water molecules from a solution of high water concentration to a solution of low water concentration through a partially permeable membrane
• movement of particles in osmosis:

  • water moves form a high concentration to low concentration
• there is no energy required for osmosis it’s a passive process
• osmosis in plants:

  • when water enters the root cells by osmosis and moves into the tubes called xylem vessels to be transported to the leaves
