• Cora and Mitch could be compared as death has an impact on their further actions / decisions. Cora finds the previous Offred hanging and fears that Offred has killed herself and makes her breakfast - is nice to her. Mitch's mother is dying and so this leads to him trying to find a woman to marry.
• Luke and Allan Grey could be compared because both are only ever seen in memory.
• Luke and Shep Huntleigh could be compared as they are both described by people who are unreliable. How sure are we that they are real people?
• A symbol is the use of words, objects etc to represent something else. 
• A motif is a recurring element that is significant - especially in symbolic terms in a play or other narrative
• Friedan's feminism emphasized career-oriented independence for women and men instead of domestic life.
• bell hooks believes that feminism is a political commitment rather than a lifestyle choice and race and class, as well as sex, determine the extent to which individuals are exploited, discriminated against or oppressed.
• Crenshaw is known for introducing and developing intersectional theory, that people experience discrimination differently depending on their overlapping identities e.g. double discrimination of racism and sexism faced by Black women
