  • Ancient Egypt was one of the greatest and most powerful civilizations in the history of the world. It lasted for over 3000 years from 3150 BC to 30 BC

    • Ancient Egypt plays a major role in the Bible. The Israelites were held captive there as slaves for many years. Moses helped them escape and led them to the Promised Land.

    • Paintings were believed to make the deceased life place pleasant giving importance of life after death and the preservation of the knowledge of the past. Most paintings were stylized, symbolic and shows profile view of an animal or a person with themes that included the journey of the deceased gods to the underworld. Egyptian paintings show mythological representations and scenes of the everyday activities of the Egyptians, such as hunting ,fishing, farming or banqueting.
    • These kinds of paintings were first found on the walls of the pharaohs' tombs more than 5,000 years ago .
    • The main colours used in this period were red, black, blue, gold and green derived from mineral pigments that can withstand strong sunlight without fading.

    • The Giza Pyramids, built to endure an eternity, have done just that. The monumental tombs are relics of Egypt's Old Kingdom era and were constructed some 4,500 years ago.

  • Akhenaton and Nefertiti Sculpture
    • This Stela of Akhenaten, Nefertiti, and Family is an altar image of the Pharaoh, his queen Nefertiti, and their three children. On the left sits Akhenaten on a stool.

    • It is also widely known as the Sphinx of Giza or just the Sphinx. It depicts a mythical creature with the body of it similar to that of lion and the head similar to human head

    • The Mask of Tutankhamum is a death mask of Pharaoh Tutankhamum (reigned 1332-1323 BC). Made from over 10kg of high-karat gold with inlaid blue lapis lazuli, the mask is also adorned with turquoise, obsidian, quartz, carnelian and other precious and semi-precious stones.

    • One of the Italian great artists of the period, an early Renaissance Italian sculptor from Florence
    • Donatello is known for his work in bas-relief, a form of shallow relief sculpture
