The League’s response:
> The League issued a moralcondemnation of Japan over their invasion of Manchuria and orderedJapan to withdraw her troops. Japan refused.
The League’s response:
> The League put together a Commission of Inquiry led by Lord Lytton (a British politician) to investigate what had happened. The LyttonReport took an entireyear to reportback and concluded that Japan had been in the wrong.
Consequences:
> Japan ignored the LyttonReport and left the League of Nations. Japan continued to invade the rest of China and by 1938. The League had acted slowly and ineffectively. One of its key members had ignored its aims, acted with aggression and left.
