• American artists came to Britain during the second world war, the US army and Air force as well as the American Forces Radio broadcast Jazz and Swing across the UK
• Whilst in he late 50's American rock found its way into England with Elvis Presley - groups like the Beatles and rolling stones replaces skiffle and American blues with their won rock sound and from 1963 onwards invaded America with British pop music
• British music stared separating from American and formed new groups like the Mods and Rockers and Glam rock
• British music found its own identity with creating defining looks for different music styles - Glam rock challenged gender identity with artists like David Bowie and Marc Bolan
• in the late 70's Punk emerged with its own identity and style - tore jeans, piercings, spiked hair
• Big change from the 1920's with blues, jazz and swing to the 1970's with the more offensive and aggressive music and look of punk and rock
