Generalisability to humans

• P-it is questionale whether findings and conclusions can be applied to complex human behaviours. it is unlikely that observations of goslings following a researcher reflects the emotional connection and interaction that characterises human attachment
• E- in humans attachment is a two way process, so it is not just the young who get attached to their but also the mother gets attached to their child
• E- additionally the first moving thing a baby sees is a midwife however humans don’t imprint on them
• L- therefore it is probably not appropriate to generalise Lorenz‘s ideas to humans as we are not a precocial species
