• the workplace is fair because it rewards the highest skilled workers doing the most important jobs with higher incomes and more status than workers with lower skills or who do less important jobs
• the workplace has a very positive impact on people as work forms a key part of an adults identity
• the workplace is unfair because it allows business owners to earn a lot of profit by not paying their workers as much as they are worth to the company e.g. Jeff Bezos, owner of Amazon is worth over £150 billion. the average amazon worker earns £15,000 per year
• some of the most important jobs in society are the poorest paid e.g. caring jobs
• many jobs are boring, repetitive and can be dangerous e.g. truck drivers, factory workers
• workplace discrimination against women, BAME, religious workers
