  • Inspirational: filling others with the urge to feel or doing something, paticularly something creative
  • social justice: relates to equal rights for all regardless of personal traits such as gender, income, etc
  • equality: relates to all things being equal and people recieving the same treatment despite their differences
  • Equity: relates to fairness. Takes unfair circumstances and provides extra support
  • suffrage: the right to vote
  • Suffragette: A woman who campaigned for women's right to vote.
  • expertise: the use of special knowledge or skill in a particular field
  • advocate: a person who supports a cause
  • advocacy: to actively plead for a cause
  • bias/biased: favouring a certain group/thing/side
  • diversity: including people from a range of different social and ethical backgrounds
  • social action: doing something to help create change
  • equality: everyone has equal rights, opportunities and access to resources
  • Edith Cowan:
    ·       Helped found Children’s Protection Society, precursor of the Children’s Court.
    ·       Helped create the Western Australian National Council for Women, of which she was President for from 1931 to 1921.
    ·       Appointed as an Officer of the Order of the British Empire in 1920.
    In 1921 she became the first Australian woman to serve as a member of parliament
