• Hazards can impact:

  • individuals who require care and support
  • employees
  • employers
• Injury or harm

  • may be harmed if environmental hazards not identified
  • chemical hazards cause injury and harm to individuals who require care and support and employees ( not storing medicine securely )
• Illness

  • Biological and phycological hazards if not identified cause life threatening and long term illnesses
  • stress and tiredness - poor unsafe care
• Poor standards of care

  • Unsafe working conditions and practices
  • lack of sanitation maintenance can cause speed of infections (MRSA)
• Financial loss

  • lack of security systems may result in theft
  • lawsuit against organisations results in compensation from injuries and harm
  • fines from regulatory agencies
