Gas pressure and temperature

Cards (5)

  • Gases exert pressure and this is caused by collisions of molecules on surfaces
  • The atmospheric pressure at the surface of the Earth is 101000Pa
  • If the temperature of a gas increases then the particles move quicker and collide more frequently with their container and this produces higher pressure.
  • Pressure is measured in Pascals (Pa) and 1 pascal is equivalent to 1n/m squared
  • 1kPa is 1000Pa
