    • Olympic organizers have discussed including esports as a demonstration sport at the 2024 Paris Games.
  • Collegiate Center for Esports (CCE)

    was founded with the goal of having future professional or national esports players emerge from the league.

  • Multiplayer
    individuals played games like Space Invaders to see who could get the highest score. Today, players compete against others in real time.
  • Online
    • An internet connection allows players to compete against opponents in the same room or on the other side of the globe.
    • The internet also allows esports competitions to be streamed through services like twitch for live online viewing.
  • Competitive
    • As opposed to the casual gamer who plays for fun, esports players compete.
  • Team-based
    • Esports players compete as part of a team.
    • While players may compete as individuals, they are doing so on behalf of their team.

    is another popular sports game among many high school esports teams. It's a fanciful game that combines elements of racing and soccer.
  • Fighting Games
    • In this esport, a small group of players (usually two) battle in a small area.
    • Characters have varying strengths and abilities. The game is played in rounds, like boxing, until time runs out or one person is beaten.
    • Ex. Street Fighter, Mortal Kombat, Super Smash Bros
  • Real-Time Strategy (RTS) Games
    • players compete in real-time.
    • Players often build, position, and manage units (characters).
    • Goals include taking control or destroying opponents' forces.
    • ex. StarCraft II and Age of Empires
  • First-person shooter games
    • put the player in the body of a character.
    • The player, as a character, attempts to defeat an adversary.
    • ex. Doom, Halo, Call of Duty, Counter-Strike: Global Offensive and Overwatch
    • Other game styles, such as Battle Royale and multiplayer Online Arena, may have first-person shooter aspects.
  • Multiplayer Online Battle Arena (MOBA) Games
    • Online multiplayer battle arena games are a type of real- time strategy game.
    • Teams attempt to destroy the enemy team's structure or base and remove their opponents, whether they are controlled by another player or by a computer.
    • ex. League of Legends, Dota 2, and Smite (dito nabubuo ang anger issues legit)
  • Battle Royale Games
    • Players acquire resources and compete to be the last player (or group of players) standing in Battle Royale games.
    • the map in Battle Royale games rapidly shrinks, forcing players to engage as the number of remaining players decreases.
    • ex. numbawan victory royale fortnite, PUBG
  • Role Playing Game (RPG)
    • Players choose a character to play the game through the life of that character.
    • Players are able to choose their own quest lines, hair color, weapons, armor, and numerous other items.to make the game more immersive.
    • ex. The Witcher, Elder Scrolls: Oblivion, Fallout, and Dungeons and Dragons.
  • Massively Multiplayer Online Role Playing Game (MMORPG)
    • Similar to other RPGs, this type of game allows players to interact online with other players.
    • Many players make online friendships and join guilds or clans as a result of these games.
    • ex. World of Warcraft, Elder Scrolls Online, Lord of the Rings Online, Eve Online, and Runescape
