  • Lab coat
  • Safety goggles
  • Gloves
  • No flammable gas near Bunsen burner - use water bath / electric heater (no naked flame)
  • Well ventilated
  • Chlorine gas - fume hood (gas can't escape to room)
  • Don't touch, use spatula, funnel
  • If dilute liquid - add conc substance to water FIRST (otherwise mixture get v hot)
• Water bath


  • Level of water outside vessel above level of substance inside vessel
  • Heating is even
  • Can't heat more 100C - water boil
• Answer should round to lowest number of sig fig used in question
