  • Carpentry as a mini-course in Industrial Arts will able them
    to perform basic home repairs and
    construction, planning, and estimating,
    framing and making a foundation, drawing
    blueprints and rendering, and other related
    tasks.
  • Furniture and cabinet making (FCM) is a field of
    carpentry that deals not just with cabinets and
    pieces of furniture but also with display cases,
    shelves, countertops, tables, and the like. Furniture
    and cabinet makers are also experts in finishing
    works.
  • Roofing carpenters works mainly on roofs, including
    rafters and timber trusses. They see to it that the
    roof frame well-designed to shed water and hold
    structural loads.
  • Restoration and residential carpenters works on
    building and restoring domestic houses. They also
    do framing and cabinet making.
  • The PECs are grouped into three
    clusters: achievement, planning, and power.
  • Achievement cluster includes competencies that
    are geared towards fulfilling or realizing desired
    targets.
  • Opportunity seeking. A carpenter successfully closes
    deals with client requirements. He/she also finds
    ways on how to improve his/her products and services
    by gaining experience or forming a good working
    relationship with clients.
  • Persistence. A successful carpenter shows grace
    under pressure. He/she does not come defensive or
    irritated when times are tough. He/she can handle
    stress and does not show frustration when
    challenged. He/she get things done effectively and
    efficiently.
  • Commitment to the work contract. A successful
    carpenter is dedicated to meeting his/her client’s
    expectations and requirements. He/she believes
    that maintaining a good working relationship with
    clients can help expand business opportunities.
  • Risk-taking. A successful carpenter or a person
    engaged in the same business assesses the
    situation carefully. He/she has contingency plans
    when challenges or accidents happen within or
    beyond his/her control. He/she evaluates courses
    of alternative actions.
  • Demand for efficiency and quality. This is the
    ability of a carpenter or furniture and cabinet
    maker to perform the task at a high level of
    expertise or accuracy.
  • Planning cluster is composed of traits that are
    necessary in formulating programs, projects, activities,
    and policies.
  • Goal setting. This refers to the utilization of time
    effectively and efficiently, focusing more on important
    priorities and accomplishing short- and long-term
    targets.
  • Information seeking. This denotes the ability of a
    carpenter to produce marketable products and to provide
    effective and efficient services so that the clients can
    make accurate decision. This can be realized if the
    carpenter is knowledgeable and skillful in his chosen field
    of specialization.
  • Systematic planning and monitoring. Carpenters
    assess the work that needs to be done, implement
    tasks or policies according to standards, and revise
    plans according to customer feedback.
  • Power cluster is composed of the following
    characteristics of an entrepreneur or carpenter who
    aims at building his/her future.
  • Persuasion and networking. This refers to the ability of
    a carpenter to influence customers and to establish
    partnership with organizations.
  • Independence and self-confidence. Everyone who is
    engaged in carpentry work has the functional
    knowledge and skills to do the job, and the awareness
    that things happen as planned. He/she uses his own
    judgment in the face of opposition or challenges.
