  Both Syria and Iraq are against Turkey’s Ilisu Dam because it reduces the water flowing to their countries, which they need for farming and drinking. They worry that the dam will harm their land, reduce water supplies, and create more problems in the region.

  Turkey supports building the Ilisu Dam because it provides electricity, helps with farming, and controls flooding. Turkey believes it has the right to use the rivers within its borders for its own development.
