Gender differences in education

• moral panic is an outburst of public concern over the behaviour of a group in society
• feminisation of education is subjects that most girls take eg. art
• traditional male jobs are for example buliders
• feminism is fighting for equality and womens rights
• league tables statistics used to show the performance of students in schools
• equal oppotunities is that everyone has the same oppotunities to succeed in life
• policies are rules that must be followed that seem like the norm of society
• adultification is young black boys are treated and seen as adults instead of children
• the bedroom culture refers to girls being trapped in their rooms growing up
• subcultures are smaller sub groups in a culture
• globalisation is the world is said to be becoming ever more interconnected
• gender roles are girls and boys being socialised to act and be a certain way
• male subjects are normally higher status and higher paid eg physics
• female subjects are normally lower status and lower pay eg teacher
