• E - Duffy uses techniques such as metaphor and allusion in the quote ' running children in a nightmare heat '. this alludes to a famous image of children running from the napalm bomb in the vietnam war. the image revealed the reality of children who where victims of military conflict, the image also helped sway public opinion and some believed it was strong enough to accelerate the end of war.
• E - through the use of metaphor Duffy conveys the idea that just as nightmares are full of horror beyond reality so too the heat is excruciating in a way that cant be imagined. This shows the terror and agonising pain of people in war zones.
