In 1595, Hans and Zacharias Janssen were credited for the production of lenses.
In 1665, English scientist, Robert Hooke coined the term "cell".

In 1674, Dutch businessman, Anton van Leeuwenhoek described cells in a drop pond of water that he called "animalcules".

In 1838, German botanist, Matthias Jakob Schleiden concluded that plants are composed of cells.
German zoologist, Theodor Schwann concluded that all animal issues are composed of cells.
