    • Reliability of diagnosis is whether one person's set symptoms would lead to a common diagnosis by different psychiatrists.
    • ICD-10 is the International Classification of Diseases, 10th Revision used mostly in Europe
    • The two types of diagnostic classification systems are the DSM and ICD.
    • The DSM has been criticised as it does not take into account cultural differences and can be influenced by pharmaceutical companies.
    • Dysfunction: Abnormal behaviour significantly interfering with everyday tasks and living life.
    • Distress: Emotional suffering or discomfort caused by psychological factors.
    • Danger: behaviour that could harm or put at risk the individual or others around them
    • Deviance: Unusual behaviour that goes against the norms and values of society.
    • Statistical abnormality is behaviour that is statistically rare
    • Social abnormality: states that behaviour which conforms to social norms and behaviour that is abnormal
    • The 4D's of diagnosis are deviance, distress, dysfunction and danger.
