• Parliament - met 7 times, 5 of which were between 1485-'95

  Granted taxes (extraordinary revenue)
• Council learned in Law

  1495 - founded to replace Star Chamber

  Maintained King's revenue

  Run by Empson and Dudley between 1503-08 - resented and executed by Henry VIII to win favour

  Legally trained officials
• Star Chamber - a court of appeal to ensure those sufficiently powerful to cause hesitation in conviction were judged fairly
• Privy Chamber - Henry's private offices - only most trusted Nobles allowed to enter
• Sheriffs - used for peacekeeping and detaining criminals
