Schedules of reinforcement

• schedules of reinforcement are the order in which reinforcers are given to an organism
• the four types of scheduled reinforcement are fixed ratio, variable ratio, variable interval, fixed interval
• fixed ratio schedule is when the number of responses required remains constant between rewards
• variable interval schedule is when the time between rewards varies randomly
• variable ratio schedule is when the number of responses required varies randomly between rewards
• fixed interval schedule: reinforcement occurs at a fixed time after a set time
