• What is a producer

  converts the sun's energy into useful compounds via photosynthesis. They are green plants and algae
• What are Primary Consumers

  Usually herbivores which feed on plants
• what are secondary consumers?

  Carnivores or omnivores that eat primary consumers.
• what are predators?

  organisms that kill for food. They are secondary or tertiary consumers
• What are prey?

  Animals that are hunted and eaten by other animals.
• What are scavengers?

  Organisms that feed on dead or decaying organic matter.
• What are decomposers?

  Organisms that feed on dead and decaying organisms. They break down the biomass and release nutrients into the soil
• What is a food web?

  A food web is a diagram that shows the interconnected feeding relationships between different organisms in an ecosystem. It is a more accurate way to show what is happening in an ecosystem
• Predator/Prey cycle

  • normal prey population
  • prey population increases, they have more food and can reproduce more
  • predator population increases as more food and so reproduces more
  • prey population decreases due to more predators eating them
  • predator population decreases due to lack of food
  • prey population increases as there is a greater food supply with less predators to hunt them
  • normal prey population
