Selective breeding

• selective breeding is used in cattle to better the character: more meat
• disadvantage of SB: reduces gene pool
• gene pool is the number of different alleles in a population
• Selective breeding causes best organisms to be closely related which causes health problems due to high chance of inheriting genetic defects
• If a new disease comes, due to lack of variation there is a less chance of resistance
