  teaches the audience that there is rightful punishment for his ambition that knows no bounds. Juggling fiends indicates the witches are evil and meddling creatures that manipulated his mind ‘juggling’ with his emotions and eventually life

  shakespeare explores macbeth's guilt through the symbolism of blood as a physical representation. hyperbole represents the gravity of the murder he has committed and therefore the gravity of guilt. The rhetorical questions shows the answers too that will never leave him

  metaphor of scorpions presents guilt as tormenting and toxic eating away at him. scorpions also represent his uneasiness and dark desire to murder banquo and fleance. he can’t rest whilst they are still alive

  vison of the ghost reveals guilt over ordering murder of banquo and fleance. his sense of guilt becomes too overpowering and looses the sense of reality. He speaks these lines to try and reassure himself that banquos dead. Start to loose grip of sanity
