  • Compensation means excelling in one area to make up for real or perceived deficits in another.
  • Overcompensation is when a person overachieves in one area for their life to make up shortcomings in another.
  • Under compensation is when a person addresses their shortcoming by overly dependent on others.
  • Inferiority Complex is when a person has feelings of inadequancy or inferiority, whether real or imagined.
  • Primary Inferiority - the original and normal feeling of inferiority maintained by an infant.
  • Secondary Inferiority - is the inferiority feeling in the adult results when a child develops an exaggerated feeling of inferiority.
  • Superiority complex is when someone acts better than others to escape feelings of insecurity.
  • Superiority Complex occur when a person has the need to prove that he is more superior than he truly is.
