• how did you investigate the effect of a range of concentrations of solutions on the mass of plant tissues?

  1. Cut potato cylinders using a cork borer to ensure the same diamete and cut the cylinders using a ruler and knife to the same start length
  2. Measure and record the start mass of each cylinder
  3. Place each potato cylinder into different concentrations of sugar solution
  4. Leave for 24 hours
  5. Remove the cylinders and blot them dry
  6. Measure and record the final mass/length
  7. Calculate the change in mass/length and the percentage change
