Primary source = something that is made at the time being studied (a newspaper, a diary, a photograph, and a building)
Secondary sources = things written about history by people who were not there at the time (books or articles written by historians)
Interpretation = someone’s description of a historical event that is made by looking at a range of different sources. Interpretations vary depending on what someone has researched, the sources they look at, and their own perspectives on history.
A source will clearly tell you information through the detail in the source. However, to be able to have a better understanding of what the source teaches us, we often have to make inferences.
Inference = something we can assume without being told
