  In the brain, monitors and controls body temperature
• If body temperature is too high

  Blood vessels dilate, sweat is produced, causing transfer of energy from skin to environment
• If body temperature is too low

  Blood vessels constrict, sweating stops, skeletal muscles contract (shiver)
