TYPES OF ESSAYS

• an essay is a piece of writing that usually has five or more paragraphs
• an essay has three main parts - introduction, body and conclusion
• introduction in an essay has general statements and information of the topic
• body paragraphs supports the main ideas of the thesis statement and should start with a topic sentences (s)
• thesis statement lists the main ideas in the essay
• conclusion is a brief summary of main points in the essay
• types of essay are- descriptive essay, compare and contrast essay, narrative essay, discursive essay and argumentative essay
• descriptive essay is to provide a vivid picture of the subject or noun which offers the reader to imagine the item or object describe
• narrative essay tells a story about a person, place, or event.
• compare and contrast essay discuses the similarities and differences between two or more things or ideas
• discursive essay is a piece of formal writing which discusses a particular issue etc.
• argumentative essay is a type of writing that aims to persuade the reader to accept the writer's point of view
