    1. SHOSAGOTO (DANCE DRAMA) – is the most elite dance of the performers accompanied by vocal and instrumental music.
  • 2. JIDAI-MONO – shows the historical facts or present dramatized versions of warriors or nobles.
  • 3. SEWAMONO (DOMESTIC DRAMA) – depicts the life of the plebian class. It is essentially a realistic story that centers on the commoner.
    1. IPPON CHOSI (CONTINUOUS PATTERN) – is a vocal technique that requires astonishing breath control to achieve an intense climax in ARAGOTO STYLE.
  •   ARAGOTO – is similar  to a tough, forceful, and rough champion vocal style.
  • 2. NORI TECHNIQUE – is used for reciting the JORJURI:
  • JORJURI - (JAPANESE NARRATIVE MUSIC: where the TAYU (actor), sings the accompaniment of a SHAMISEN.
  • SHAMISEN - (STRING INSTRUMENT) in a riding rhythm style.
  • RIDING RHYTHM – is singing in a steady and constant beat.
  • 3. YAKUHARAI TECHNIQUE – is a delicate style of conveying the lines in metrical forms of alternating seven and five syllables.
  • NAGAUTA MUSIC (LONG SONG) – vocal musical feature; which is a dominant style of music in lyric form that uses a system of notation.
    1. SHAMISEN – the principal instrument which is a three-stringed instrument
  • 2. KOTSUZUMI – a small drum held on the right shoulder
  • 3. OTSUZUMI – a drum held on the left hip
  • 4. TAIKO – a barrel drum set on a stand that is struck with a stick
  • HANAMICHI (FLOWER WALK RAMP PASSAGEWAY) – serves as additional entrance/exit points of actors. >MOST IMPORTANT SCENES are presented on this ramp
  • MAWARIBUTAI – is a revolving stage that allows for the quick changes of scenes without disturbing the flow of the plot.
  • KUROGO  - is a man dressed in black that serves as a prompter and is not part of the presentation.
  • MIE – is a momentary pause or a pictorial pose of actors. Sometimes, the actor assumes a cross-eyed stare.
