Envy

• 'This rose-tree is not made to bear the violet blue nor the lily fair.'
• Or wished to change its natural bent, It all in vain would fret
• It ne'er had seen its own red rose.
• Like such a blind and senseless tree As I've imagined this to be
• Like such a blind and senseless tress... all envious persons are
• Some pretty flower in their own mind
• Some talent that is rare
• Repetition: 'If this tree were discontent' and 'it could ne'er be discontent'
• Envy: rhyme scehem aabccb- memorable, nursery rhyme, makes us remember the message
• Envy: 3 stanzas- one for the tree's jealousy, one for its beauty and one for its stupidity
