identification

• conforming to the opinion/ behaviour of a group because there is something about that group that we value
• this is a moderate form of conformity because the conformity lasts as long as we value that group
• we identity with that group so we want to be a part of it
• we publically change our beliefs to fit in with the group even if we don't privately agree with everything the group stands for
