Type 1 diabetes
Usually occurs in childhood and lasts for the rest of life
The pancreas stops producing insulin
This means blood glucose levels can rise really high
Can be treated by insulin injections into abdomen

Usually occurs in old people that have had unhealthy diets for a long time
Persons cells become resistant and don't respond to insulin
This means sugar can't be taken up from the blood stream
Main treatment is healthy low fat diet and lots of exercise
