• Many PLANT cells CAN differentiate easily whilst animal cells LOSE the ability to differentiate early on
• We typically obtain human stem cells from the bone marrow
• Animal cells are UNABLE to differentiate after THE EARLY stages of FOETAL development
• STEM cells are undifferentiated, so they can be used to treat many illnesses
• Adult stem cells are unspecialised cells that can develop into many, but not all, types of cells.
• New cells may be produced by EMBRYONIC STEM CELLS or ADULT STEM cells in order to REPLACE damaged tissue
• The use of EMBRYONIC STEM cells is subject to government regulation.
